What’s SUP?

SUP is an acronym for Stand Up Paddling and is a popular leisure activity the world over.

Where ever there is open water, people (and pets) can enjoy paddleboarding, on canals, ponds, lakes, rivers and in the Sea. SUP is the UK’s fastest growing watersport, which originated in Hawaii. People of all ages can learn to paddle standing up. Stand Up Paddle Boarding is eco-friendly and a low impact form of exercise, providing a gentle workout that loves your joints and builds core strength, whilst you enjoy the peace and views from the water. The only prerequisite is being a good swimmer, on the rare occasion that you may fall in!

Stand up paddling is a great stress and anxiety reliever and is beneficial for people with disabling factors including mental health and for NHS Social Prescribing. Exposure to the beauty of nature and its calming influence with gentle exercise for boosted wellbeing.
